Bath Sees Strong Retail Property Demand

Strong demand has been reported for Bath and North East Somerset Council's commercial property space.

Three businesses have relocated to new premises, with NS hair now operating from 3 Newmarket Row, Aria Lingerie taking up space at 3 George Street and Caffe Dolce moving to Milsom Street.

The void rate for the council's retail property currently stands at 2.5 per cent, which compares favourably with the national average of 13 per cent.

Andrew Cooper, Bath business improvement district manager, said: "The activity of the Business Improvement District providing initiatives such as promotions and events to drive footfall is vital in supporting all businesses working in partnership with the council, and property landlords."

In recent weeks, Kelvin Davidson from Capital Economics predicted that more falls can be expected in the UK's commercial property market.

However, Mr Davidson believes that markets such as prime West End retail will remain strong.
