Repossessions & Debt Data
The Ministry of Justice has published figures which show that the number of repossessions rose by 17% in the first quarter of 2008 when placed against the figures from the same period in 2007.
In tandem to the latest repossession figures the government has released additional funding to organizations providing help and advice to those struggling to make repayments on their borrowing.
The Council of Mortgage Lenders has forecast a figure for 2008 of 45k repossessions which it says in detail on its website equates to only 1 in 300 mortgages or less than half of the rate experienced in the housing crash of the 1990s.
