Solicitors take an important role in HIP Provision
Solicitors take an important role in HIP Provision
Research undertaken by the Law Society and published in the Gazette on the 13th March 2008 shows that from a sample of 2000, 47% of solicitors are producing their own Home Information Packs.
Experts in the industry have for some time believd that solicitors are well positioned to play an active role in the HIP industry. Many of the documents required to be present in a HIP were previously familiar to solicitors through the conveyancing process and proactive solicitors have relationships with Estate Agents, Domestic Energy Assessors and specialist HIP companies.
Quoted on the FINWIRE website, Paul Marsh, Vice President of the Law Society, said “These figures are encouraging. Solicitors have engaged with HIPs, which is good news for buyers and sellers alike. It is clear that many sellers, as well as estate agents, identify solicitors as being best placed to produce the Packs.”
