Display Energy Certificates
From October 2008 under The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) legislation, Display Energy Certificates have been a requirement.
All buildings with a total useful floor area over 1,000m 2 that are occupied by a public authority or institution providing a public service to a large number of persons fall under the legislation.
DECs are valid for 12 months and the legislation requires that a current certificate is displayed by the occupier and that a valid Advisory Report also exists. Advisory reports are valid for 7 years.
